A readily available and easily operated Automated External Defibrillator (AED) at the scene, in the hands of a trained operator can enormously increase the chance of surviving a sudden cardiac arrest. This course will enable you to make a life-saving difference. Electrical defibrillation is well established as the effective therapy for cardiac arrest, the most important determinant of survival being the time from collapse to delivery of the first shock. Today the widespread deployment of AED's is considered a realistic strategy for reducing mortality due to heart diseases. This half day course provides an overview of the AED and how to confidently use it.

What to expect and what to bring:
All Fieldskills courses involve some practical elements. On our AED training course you will be using a Trainer Unit, and it works exactly the same as the real Clinical Unit. Hence, when a real incident occurs, you will know exactly what to do and how to use the AED.
This course is a combination of teaching and hands-on practical sessions. Participants are, as always, expected to do some bending, kneeling and lifting inside the classroom. So if you are unable to take part in any of these activities, please do let us know. It is important to operate within your abilities and that you inform Fieldskills of any medical or other issues which may affect your active participation.
