TREKKING > Lupa Masa (3 days / 2 nights)

Lupa Masa translates to ‘forget time’ and during this jungle experience, this is exactly what you can do. Lupa Masa Eco Camp is surrounded by Mount Kinabalu National Park and World Heritage Site. This itinerary is a perfect introduction to the diversity of the Borneo rainforest and is teeming with butterflies, birds and strange insects. The camp is made from local bamboo and electricity is supplied from its own mini hydro. This relaxing itinerary will give you a great balance of trekking in the surrounding forest which is amazing for animal spotting and relaxing in the camp which is surrounded by crystal clean rivers and a stunning waterfall.

Itinerary

(Timings to be used as guidelines only)

Day 1 (Lunch and Dinner)

You will be collected from your hotel in Kota Kinabalu and transported up the winding road past Mount Kinabalu National Park. It takes approximately 2 ½ hrs by vehicle to reach the Lupa Masa trailhead. It takes approximately 20 minutes to walk into Lupa Masa Camp site along a beautiful jungle trail. After lunch, there will be a short trek in the surrounding forest and an opportunity to spend a couple of hours relaxing in the river before sunset and dinner. For those feeling adventurous, there is an optional night walk to spot nocturnal animals in the evening.

Day 2 (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)

Today, you will really have an opportunity to explore the jungle with an experienced guide. Their ability to spot unusual and camouflaged insects is unbelievable and they are very much at home in the forest environment. After a picnic lunch in the forest, you will trek back in time to cool off in the river before dinner.

Day 3 (Breakfast and Lunch)

After a relaxing morning at Lupa Masa, you will be transported back to Kota Kinabalu stopping en-route for lunch in Kundasang.
