ROCK CLIMBING > Berhala Island Rock Climbing -
(2 days / 1 night)

Berhala Island has only recently been discovered as a rock climbing destination. Previously it was only known for it’s amazing history. Before world war 2, it was a Leper colony serviced by nuns and priests and then it was used by the Japanese occupying army as a prisoner camp. It is now a Forestry reserve with a small village and a naval base on one side and huge sandstone cliffs on the other, facing out to sea. The rock features are varied - collosal vertical cliffs rising up 450 feet as well as gently sloping rock walls right on the beach. Many of the climbs have been bolted to make them safe and the average grade is F5a – F6b. There are boulder problems and some fun ‘projects’ waiting to be completed. The biggest route on the island is yet to be climbed (F7b+, 5 pitches). Exhilarating
